Piatnitzkysaurus - Video Learning - WizScience.com

01:58
""Piatnitzkysaurus"" is an extinct genus of megalosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived approximately 164 to 161 million years ago during the middle part of the Jurassic Period in what is now Argentina. It was named to honor Alejandro Mateievich Piatnitzky , a Russian-born Argentine geologist. "Piatnitzkysaurus" was a moderately large, lightly built, bipedal, ground-dwelling carnivore, that could grow up to 4.3 m long. The holotype specimen of "Piatnitzkysaurus", PVL 4073, was collected during expeditions in 1977, 1982, 1983 at the Canadon Asfalto Formation in sediments that were deposited during the Callovian stages of the Jurassic period, approximately 164 to 161 million years ago. Once thought to be a basal carnosaur, it may instead be a megalosauroid. In total two partial skeletons are known and show that "Piatnitzkysaurus" was a relatively lightly built medium-sized bipedal carnivore that was around 4.3 m long and around 450 kg in mass, though such estimates apply to the holotype, which is a subadult. It had robust arms and powerful hind legs with four toes on each foot. Its ischium is 423 mm long. Its braincase resembles that of another megalosauroid, the megalosaurid "Piveteausaurus" from France. A general resemblance to the theropod "Allosaurus" was also noted by Benton . Land of Giants is a series I'm doing in Zoo Tycoon 2 that will feature exclusively dinosaurs as well as some of the other extinct animals that walked the Earth during the same time period. I'm going with a very detailed-oriented series with unique exhibits and complex builds. If you want to download any of the animals or objects that you see in this video that aren't in the vanilla game, these three sites are where I found the majority of them. https://sites.google.com/site/rubensophiedesigns/Home http://thezt2roundtable.com/forum/3570340/ http://z14.invisionfree.com/ZT2_Designing_Center/index.php? 'Walking With' Series - Trilogy of Life

06:16
Well, this is it. The music video I've been working on for months. It is, primarily, a trilogy of life, and a tribute to pretty much everything that's happened on our planet up until this point. It's my longest video, and the one that has taken the most time to finish. It was a labour of love, though, as this idea has been in my head for a LONG time. Hope you guys enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it! And, of course, I own none of the stuff in the video. I DO own the entire 'Walking With' series, but it's rights are solely in the hands of BBC. Cheers to them, with both this series and their more recent 'Planet Earth' documentaries. The song, however, belongs to Fat Boy Slim, who, I must admit, continues to amuse me with such a funny name. ^_^ *Edit - I gotta say, the reaction to this video has been absolutely awesome! So here's a big, well-earned thank you to everyone who's left a comment on it, good or bad! You're making me all proud and whatnot over here! ^_^ Oh, and as I forgot to mention earlier - sorry Fatboy Slim! - the song's name is Right Here, Right Now. Great song by a great artist! Cheers, all!

See them all on www.dinosaurdays.com or download the app on https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dinosaurdays-animated-learning/id624264580?mt=8 NAME: CAUDIPTERYX (kaw-DIP-tuh-rix), meaning: "tail feather" SIZE: 3 feet tall (the size of a turkey), weighed 15 pounds TYPE OF DIET: Carnivore and herbivore (omnivore) WHEN: Cretaceous period (120 - 136 million years ago) WHERE: North Eastern China The bones of Caudipteryx were discovered in 1998. It was a very exciting find for paleontologists. It was a small theropod dinosaur like many others during this period. It ran on two legs. It ate meat and had sharp teeth. Its front legs were small and useful for grabbing food. It had long, sharp claws on its fingers. But this creature had a feathered body, a beak and a feathered tail. Its front legs were more like wings than legs. It was somewhere between a dinosaur and a bird. Caudipteryx lived about 120 to 136 million years ago. It was a graceful creature, with long legs and a long S-shaped neck. Its entire body was covered with small feathers called down. Its wings had feathers that were between 6 and 8 inches long. They had shafts and veins like feathers on today’s birds. But Caudipteryx couldn’t use its wings to fly. Some paleontologists believe that the wings were used to catch bugs. This dinosaur might have used its wings to help it jump: by flapping its wings and taking a leap, it was probably able to jump very far. It was most likely a fast runner: it was very light and had long legs and could use its wings for balance. Caudipteryx was about 3 feet tall, which is about the size of a turkey. It was a predator, meaning that it hunted other animals for food. But it also had small stones in its gizzard called “gastroliths”. Gastroliths help mash up tough plant food, so Caudipteryx also ate plants. Its fossils were found in North Eastern China.

Nothosaurus - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:15
""Nothosaurus"" is an extinct genus of sauropterygian reptile from the Triassic period, approximately 240-210 million years ago, with fossils being distributed from North Africa and Europe to China. It is the best known member of the nothosaur order. A complete skeleton of the species "Nothosaurus raabi", now a synonym of "N. marchicus", can be seen in the Natural History Museum in Berlin. "Nothosaurus" was a semi-oceanic animal which probably had a lifestyle similar to that of today's seals. It was about 4 m, with long, webbed toes and possibly a fin on its tail. When swimming, "Nothosaurus" would use its tail, legs, and webbed feet to propel and steer it through the water. The skull was broad and flat, with long jaws, lined with needle teeth, it probably caught fish and other marine creatures. "Nothosaurus" hunted by sneaking up slowly on prey, such as shoals of small fish, then putting on a last-minute burst of speed. Trackways attributed, partly by process of elimination, to a nothosaur, that were reported from Yunnan, China in June 2014, were interpreted as the paddle impressions left as the animals dug into soft seabed with rowing motions of their paddles, churning up hidden benthic creatures that they snapped up. Once caught, few animals would be able to shake themselves free from the mouth of "Nothosaurus". In many respects its body structure resembled that of the much later plesiosaurs, but it was not as well adapted to an aquatic environment. It is thought that one branch of the nothosaurs may have evolved into plesiosaurs such as "Liopleurodon", a short-necked plesiosaur that grew up to 6.4 m, and the long-necked "Cryptoclidus", a fish eater with a neck as long as 9 m. Dinosaur Safari (Late Jurassic) Clip #3: Rhamphorhynchus

00:06
This clip is from the game Dinosaur Safari, where you can go to different time periods and snap different photos of different dinosaurs. It was a childhood memory for someone like me who has always been appreciative of these beautiful creatures that once walked the Earth. Rhamphorhynchus had an unusually long tail with a piece of skin at the end of it that helped stabilize its body in flight. Rhamphorhynchus was a carnivore and ate fish from the ocean. It's name means "beak snout" as it had large, pointed, toothed jaws. The first specimen was discovered in 1927, and was thought to be another species of Pterodactylus. These clips are not mine, and I do not claim ownership to them. The credit goes to the respective makers and owners of this game. All Rights Reserved.

SALTOPUS: the triassic period

01:52
Saltopus may be the oldest European dinosaur. Its bones were found in what is today the country of Scotland. We don't know very much about this dinosaur because we still haven't found a complete Saltopus skeleton yet. Until now, what we have are just pieces of this dinosaur's hind legs and hip bones. Saltopus lived in the late Triassic period, about 225 to 222 million years ago. It was one of the smallest dinosaurs. It was not even as large as a cat. It weighed only two pounds! It was two feet tall and two feet long. PlayDough World - How To Make Pteranodon Dinosaur

13:11
How To Make Playdough Dinosaur Pteranodon Playdough tutorial to make Pteranodon. Pteranodon Dinosaur making by Play Doh. What is Pteranodon Dinosaur? Pteranodon species are extremely well represented in the fossil record, allowing for detailed descriptions of their anatomy and analysis of their life history. Over 1,000 specimens have been identified, though less than half are complete enough to give researchers good information on the anatomy of the animal. Still, this is more fossil material than is known for any other pterosaur, and it includes both male and female specimens of various age groups and, possibly, species. Adult Pteranodon specimens from the two major species can be divided into two distinct size classes. The smaller class of specimens have small, rounded head crests and very wide pelvic canals, even wider than those of the much larger size class. The size of the pelvic canal probably allowed the laying of eggs, indicating that these smaller adults are females. The larger size class, representing male individuals, have narrow hips and very large crests, which were probably for display. Adult male Pteranodon were among the largest pterosaurs, and were the largest flying animals known until the late 20th century, when the giant azhdarchid pterosaurs were discovered. The wingspan of an average adult male Pteranodon was 5.6 metres (18 ft). Adult females were much smaller, averaging 3.8 metres (12 ft) in wingspan. The largest ' from the Niobrara Formation measured 6.25 metres (20.5 ft) from wingtip to wingtip. An even larger specimen is known from the Pierre Shale Formation, with a wingspan of 7.25 metres (23.8 ft), though this specimen may belong to the distinct genus and species Geosternbergia maysei. While most specimens are found crushed, enough fossils exist to put together a detailed description of the animal. Methods used to estimate the weight of large male Pteranodon specimens (those with wingspans of about 7 meters) have been notoriously unreliable, producing a wide range of estimates from as low as 20 kilograms (44 lb) and as high as 93 kilograms (205 lb). In a review of pterosaur size estimates published in 2010, researchers Mark Witton and Mike Habib demonstrated that the latter, largest estimates are almost certainly incorrect given the total volume of a Pteranodon body, and could only be correct if the animal "was principally comprised of aluminium." Witton and Habib considered the methods used by researchers who obtained smaller weight estimates equally flawed. Most have been produced by scaling modern animals such as bats and birds up to Pteranodon size, despite the fact that pterosaurs have vastly different body proportions and soft tissue anatomy from any living animal. Oviraptor Dinosaur Playdoh Making Video

How To Make Playdough An Oviraptor Dinosaur. Playdough tutorial to make An Oviraptor Dinosaur. An Oviraptor Dinosaur making by Play Doh. Step by step play dough tutorial. The best way to make An Oviraptor Dinosaur by play-doh. Please Subscribe To Our Channel For Watching More Playdoh Videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEhmhSVMGtuwXTTW274D1XA?sub_confirmation=1 What is Oviraptor Dinosaur: Oviraptor philoceratops is known from a single partial skeleton (specimen number AMNH 6517), as well as a nest of about fifteen eggs that have been referred to this species (AMNH 6508). When living, Oviraptor was one of the most bird-like of the non-avian dinosaurs. Its rib cage, in particular, displayed several features that are typical of birds, including a set of processes on each rib that would have kept the rib cage rigid. A relative of Oviraptor called Nomingia was found with a pygostyle, which is a set of fused vertebrae that would later help support the tail feathers of birds. Skin impressions from more primitive oviraptorosaurs, like Caudipteryx and Protarchaeopteryx, clearly show an extensive covering of feathers on the body, feathered wings and feathered tail fans. A tail fan is also indicated by the presence of a pygostyle in Nomingia, suggesting that this feature was widespread among oviraptorosaurs. Additionally, the nesting position of the brooding Citipati specimens implies the use of feathered wings to cover the eggs. Given the close anatomical similarity between these species and Oviraptor, it is highly likely that Oviraptor had feathers as well. On the other hand, there is one problem with the use of feathers to "brood" eggs. Since feather is good insulation, heat cannot easily transfer between the body of an animal and the eggs, if there is feather in between them. That is why many birds have a featherless patch of bare skin, known as the brood patch, to allow heat to flow freely from the bird's body to the eggs. So, if Oviraptor and Citipati were to cover their eggs with feathers, the feathers can only function to shield the eggs from the elements, such as the sun, wind or rain, but the feathers will not warm the eggs, regardless of whether Oviraptor and Citipati are endothermic or ectothermic. Zoo Tycoon 2: Backyard Zoo Part 3 - The Big Cats Have Arrived!

05:37
Welcome to my new zoo on Zoo Tycoon 2. This zoo will feature entirely animals that are found right here in the Western United States where I live, which is why I decided to call it the Backyard Zoo! Also, if you want to download any of the animals or objects that you see in this series that aren't in the vanilla game, these three sites are where I found the majority of them. https://sites.google.com/site/rubensophiedesigns/Home http://thezt2roundtable.com/forum/3570340/ http://z14.invisionfree.com/ZT2_Designing_Center/index.php? If you can't find something from the series on these sites, then just ask me and I might remember where I found it. I hope you enjoy the video, and thanks for watching! Zoo Tycoon 2 - Snow Leopard Exhibit!

10:21
Welcome back to Zoo Tycoon 2! Today I am building a snow leopard exhibit! I added some climbing logs and rocks for the leopards to climb on and plenty of foliage. I was unable to add a shelter anywhere as there was no room in the exhibit, so instead I added a large tree to give the leopards shade. Can we hit 8 likes? Make sure to subscribe for more! Thanks for watching guys and have a ZOOper day! :) :D

Is the existence of Bigfoot possible? What conditions would have to be met for an 8-foot tall ape roaming the forests of North America to exist? How did Bigfoot get here to begin with, and is he just a long lost relative of Gigantopithecus. Let's talk about it. If you like this video, don't forget to smash that subscribe button. I release around two videos a week covering different interesting topics such as this one, as well as astronomy, biology, philosophy and more! Miragaia: Dinosaur of the Day

Miragaia: Dinosaur of the Day I Know Dino: The big dinosaur podcast. News, interviews, and discussions about dinosaurs. Are you a dinosaur enthusiast? Learn more at https://www.patreon.com/iknowdino. You can also visit http://www.IknowDino.com for more information including a link to dinosaur sites near you. Miragaia Stegosaurid that lived in the Jurassic in what is now Portugal Named after the area where the fossils were found Name is also in reference to mira, which means wonderful in Latin, and Gaia, the earth goddess Name means “wonderful goddess of the Earth” Found after a road was built between the villages Miragaia and Sobral Found the anterior half and partial skull (other half possibly destroyed during construction Described in 2009 by Octávio Mateus, Susannah Maidment and Nicolai Christiansen Miragaia is the first recognized stegosaur skull found in Europe (before, only bits and pieces had been found) Alberto Cobos and others in 2010 suggested Miragaia was a junior synonym of Dacentrurus (which lived in England) Type species is Miragaia longicollum Species name means “long neck” About 18-20 ft (5.5-6 m) long, though Gregory Paul estimated it was 6.5 m long and weighed 2 tons Had a very long neck (at least 17 vertebrae), which is part of a trend of longer necks in stegosaurs Miragaia is part of the clade Thyreophora, whose older members had 9 vertebrae. Then later ones, Stegosaurus and Hesperosaurus, had 12-13 vertebrae Had the longest neck of any stegosaur, and more cervical vertebrae than many sauropods Neck vertebrae were longer than vertebrae in other stegosaurs Longer neck is convergent evolution with sauropod necks lengthening Neck elongation may occur three ways: incorporating dorsal vertebrae into the neck (backbones moved forward and became part of the neck), adding new cervical elements to the vertebral column, and lengthening of individual cervical vertebrae Scientists think all three of these things led to sauropods having long necks Because of its long neck, Miragaia may have been able to eat foods other herbivores couldn’t reach. The neck may also have helped to attract mates (though it’s not clear exactly why it had such a long neck) Giraffes are the only living mammals with long necks, and scientists think it was because long necks attracted mates (same as with sauropods) Had long forelimbs Had a toothless beak, like Stegosaurus Had a notch in the snout tip that was shaped like a W (in Stegosaurus that notch is U-shaped) Had ornamentation on the supper part of the nasal bone Had 16 teeth in the maxilla May have used its rear legs to rear up and reach high branches, but not known for sure since those bones are missing Had spikes and plates, with eight paired plates Had a long, narrow spike that was thought to be a shoulder spine, but now is thought to be part of the tail Tail is unknown Can see a reconstruction of Miragaia at the Museum of Lourinha in Portual (mix of real fossil and casts) Part of the clade Dacentrurinae, within Stegosauridae (sister group to Stegosaurus), and includes Dacentrurus Stegosauridae is a family of thyreophoran dinosaurs Includes stegosaurs more closely related to Stegosaurus than Huayangosaurus Lived into the late Cretaceous Had rows or osteoderms along their neck, trunk, and tail (plates and spikes, used for display, thermoregulation, and defense) Had front legs shorter than rear legs, (powerful but slow) Could shear small branches Skulls are shallower than early stegosaurs Two subfamilies: Dacentrurinae and Stegosaurinae Stegosaurinae are larger To learn more about dinosaurs and I Know Dino, connect with us on the following sites: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/iknowdino Twitter: https://twitter.com/iknowdino Tumblr: http://iknowdino.tumblr.com/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/u/0/100785970585647966999 Pinterest: https://cz.pinterest.com/sabsky/dinosauria/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-know-dino Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/6761950?shelf=dinosaurs iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-know-dino-big-dinosaur-podcast/id960976813?mt=2&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 Sound Cloud: https://soundcloud.com/iknowdino Stitcher: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/i-know-dino For more I Know Dino videos, subscribe to our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvhUJdvCkSBofvVBgHUrmLg
